TITLE: Executive Director
REPORTS TO: Board of Directors
SUMMARY: The Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for Kure It Cancer Research’s staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. S/he will initially develop deep knowledge of field, core programs, operations, and business plans.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Mission & Vision – Overall strategic and operational responsibility for executing the overall Kure It mission through business plan development, partnership building, programmatic excellence, and systems for tracking progress. Continue to develop and monitor Kure It branding and overall message.
-Fundraising & Donor Relations – Interfacing and engaging with diverse donor groups. Secure additional corporate support, foundations, and large donors. Implementation of a wide variety of creative fundraising strategies.
-Fiscal Integrity & Viability – Overall cultivation and management of sufficient and varied resources to ensure the financial health of—and new opportunities for—our organization.
-Program and Business Development – Creation of new programs, campaigns and streams of revenue as well as ongoing analysis of current programs and income sources.
-Governance & Leadership – Strategic development and retention of strong board of directors, staff, and key stakeholders. Provide ongoing training and mentoring of staff regarding non-profit effectiveness. Further development of strategies to increase Board size, identify and recruit new Board members.
-Community Relations – Establish and maintain relationships with partners in the community.
-Communications – Strategic development of public relations and brand recognition. Oversee marketing and communication efforts.
-Hold a bachelor’s degree and have 5+ years of direct annual fund development and senior non-profit management experience.
-Have previous success working with a Board of Directors and managing a staff of two or more.
-Be a positive, progressive person of high integrity who is passionate about the power of cancer research to save lives.
-Be energized by, understand, and have experience taking programs to scale.
-Be entrepreneurial and have a proven track record creating innovative revenue-generating programs and/or social enterprise, and managing fundraising events.
-Be an exceptional fundraiser with proven financial acumen. Candidate should have command of fundraising strategies, donor relations unique to the non-profit sector, and budget management skills.
-Have experience analyzing, adapting, and explaining an organizational budget.
-Work best in transparent, collaborative environments. Be a good listener and do not shy away from tough conversations. Can build relationships and consensus, motivate others, and develop high-performance teams.
-Be a strong communicator —a strong writer and natural public speaker who can inspire, empower, and motivate both internal and external stakeholders to drive impact.
-Have the ability to convey a vision of Kure It's strategic future to staff, board members, volunteers, and donors.
-Be self-directed and pay attention to the details, able to adhere to deadlines, delegate effectively, and have experience driving large, simultaneous projects through to final execution.
-Experience with Blackbaud or eTapestry a plus.
