The Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach is a chartered member of the Boys & Girls Club of America, a nationwide organization composed of autonomous, community-based organizations that work at the local level to help young people of all backgrounds develop the qualities they need to become responsible citizens and leaders.
Role and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Major Gifts is charged with developing a comprehensive strategy to engage and increase the number of high-value annual individual and corporate donors (those donors with giving levels at or above $5,000 annually) and to move them to progressively higher levels of giving. The Director of Major Gifts will maintain and grow a portfolio of approximately 100-150 qualified annual donors, as well as establish new relationships in order to increase the pipeline for future major gifts. He/she will be expected to direct and manage a Core Team of Board and other Volunteers focused on increasing individual giving. Individual responsibilities and accountability metrics to include but not be limited to:
Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university or college. CFRE Preferred. Master’s Degree highly desirable.
Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible fundraising positions in a complex, non-profit environment. Thorough understanding of best practices and trends in individual giving and demonstrated experience in managing effective annual fundraising programs, as well as, ability to interact personally with donors and prospects. Must have a proven track record that demonstrates solid fundraising results and success in personal cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of annual gifts in the $5,000 and up range. Proven ability to engage with donors and an understanding of what it takes to expand their participation. Experience conducting data analysis to assess the efficacy of annual giving methods is required.
Fundraising experience within a comprehensive campaign in a sophisticated and complex environment.
