About Tichenor Clinic for Children:
Tichenor Clinic is a leader in providing rehabilitative services to children. The clinic is one of the oldest nonprofit community clinics in Long Beach. The mission of the clinic is to provide children with chronic orthopedic disabilities, rehabilitative and enrichment services regardless of their ability to pay.

Annually, Tichenor Clinic provides services to approximately 800 children and their families with almost 14,000 therapy visits. Tichenor Clinic has successfully grown its programs and services by achieving meaningful outcomes for children and their families and by collaborating with local agencies and other service providers. At the present time, the demand for services far exceeds the resources that are available to provide them.

Position Summary:
The Development Manager – Individual Giving is responsible for identification, cultivation, solicitation, renewal, upgrade and stewardship of individuals capable of contributing annual gifts to enhance the sustainability of Tichenor Clinic’s services. The Development Manager – Individual Giving works closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in their development and fundraising endeavors. This position will play a crucial role in creating a development plan and implementing a comprehensive individual donor fund program with the goal of broadening the donor base, increasing the average size of donations and increasing donor retention.

This is a part-time employment position (approximately 20 hours per week). The position is located in our offices in Long Beach. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to supplement their income while showcasing their talents in fundraising.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serve as a primary donor relationship manager and soliciting prospect portfolios for donors and donor prospects.
  • Retain current donors and expand donor base.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of various fundraising methods and messages; adapt future appeals accordingly.
  • Maintain an understanding of fundraising issues and how they may affect and provide fundraising opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a fundraising and outreach program that makes effective use of the Executive Director and the Board of Directors; including scheduling, preparing for and attending meetings with potential donors.
  • Prepare meaningful and effective funding proposals, reports, program updates, and customized email communications for individual donors and prospects.
  • Develop and maintain stewardship tracking system so recognition and communication reminders are automated to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintain stewardship contacts donors; adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to donor needs.
  • Manage portfolio to ensure enough donors are in the prospect pipeline to meet organizational revenue goals.
  • Grow a midlevel gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of donors.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of donor recognition and cultivation events.

Specific Competencies:

  • Excellent organizational, managerial and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Self-starter and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
  • Excellent understanding of social media and how to utilize it to enhance fundraising.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Complete deliverables in established timeframes while maintaining flexibility.
  • Proficiency at intermediate level with fundraising software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Minimum Requirements/Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of demonstrated success in direct fundraising with a focus on managing a donor portfolio. Prefer experience in a non-profit organization.
