Reporting directly to the Director, Alumni Relations & Events, the Assistant Director, Alumni and Events is responsible for assisting all the activities established for the University Alumni program, communication, events and activities, including but not limited to assisting with public relations, managing events, receptions and community related projects. The Assistant Director, Alumni and Events is actively engaged in creating and nurturing relationships that will potentiate continued success for Alumni and the University as a whole. Is accountable for success of WCU Alumni functions and building strong relationships with key groups in the WCU community, supports the goals of placement, , and clinical preceptors continued admissions, enrollments and fundraising. Provides direction to students, alumni and industry in accordance with the mission and purpose of the University.

Assists in managing the functioning of the WCU Alumni Network interacting with internal and external Healthcare affiliates at all levels to include graduates, students, faculty, university administrators and external agencies important in the success of current and future graduates.
Forms and fosters relationships through the management and dissemination of significant communication and networking creating opportunity for graduates in the near term and ongoing, while ensuring reputation acceptance of University program successes for the long term. Responds to alumni and industry communications and needs.
Builds and fosters relationships, communication and successful networking activities in addition to organization and management of activities related to the University Alumni functions from planning through execution of events.
Assists in managing the alumni relations department independently and makes and exercises good judgment that significantly impacts the success of the WCU Alumni Network within the community.
Establishes and manages alumni chapters across Florida, Texas & California. Maintains regular communication for networking of Alumni with event planning and management, via direct contact, alumni email server, email blasts, alumni web pages, and print publications. Monitors and manages all chapter activities and boards.
Actively tracks all volunteer engagement as it pertains to the WCU Alumni Network.
Prepares, develops and maintains accurate records, files and action plans for reports in measuring annual alumni goals. Tracks own event budgets. Responsible for gathering and input of data to be entered and captured in Raiser’s Edge.
Promotes and supports the alumni network by assisting in managing weekly social media and alumni portal function as it relates to position.
Actively serves as the liaison to the Career Services Department as it pertains to alumni including assisting alumni with resume reviews, career growth, job leads and securing CE credit opportunities.
Supports all aspects of alumni events and assists in the organization of logistics from initial research including contacting and visits to various vendors and venue sites and the evaluation of all allied details such as the selection of event space or venue and the selection of applicable vendors. Secures and negotiates contracts for approval by the university for events.
Identifies colleague and volunteering/ recruitment assistance for event execution and includes such in plans and proposals for activities and programs both on and off campus, such as, receptions, speaker series, workshops, and community related projects.
Supports the Future Alumni Program on all campuses including out of state. Educates current students on alumni programs. Presents alumni presentations for orientation, last year classes prior to graduation, at alumni events and for faculty and staff upon request.
Secures sponsorships and leads fundraising efforts for the Alumni Scholarship by building relationships with community, employers while hosting Pop Up Fundraising Events.
Carries out initiatives, provides networking opportunities and connections that impact placement and referrals for enrollment. Acts as a resource for current students with possible impact on retention.
Attends alumni and other University related events, activities and programs. Maintains communication with graduates. Updates records and report of all alumni transactions in Raiser’s Edge under the Director of, Alumni Relations & Events. Reports updates and details of alumni career lifestyle in order to benefit other alumni, current students, incoming prospective students and the school in general.
Participates in professional development and organizations in order to maintain an understanding of current trends in the industry, implements new ideas, engages in ongoing research and practices, attends meetings, workshops and seminars to enrich personal and professional growth, knowledge and skill in management development.
Maintains professional appearance for position and serves as a role model, leader and mentor to the campus community.
Maintains and implements established department policies, procedures and attends in-services and other required meetings.

Bachelor’s degree in education, administration, business management, communications, marketing, public relations, student personnel, or related field required.
Master’s degree preferred.
One year of directly related experience or a minimum of two years’ experience in an educational setting managing alumni affairs and /or leading student related, career services, sales or marketing events, preferably alumni and fundraising experience with a University.
Two years’ experience in alumni affairs, involving event planning and management, fund raising, and alumni and event planning liaison activities preferred.
Experience with managing funds and allocating expenses related to event planning, marketing and organization.
Experience and skill in interpersonal communications and interviewing procedures.
Proficient command of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and correct usage of the English language.
Comprehensive knowledge of educational settings and administration desired.
Proficient computer skills and experience including Microsoft Office and student databases.
